Originally built in 1900, this one-room schoolhouse educated generations of students until its closure in 1967. As one-room schools across Marin and Sonoma Counties were phased out, the American Valley School—now known as the Valley Ford Schoolhouse—was entrusted to the Gold Ridge Resource Conservation District. For over 20 years, the Valley Ford Volunteer Fire Department lovingly managed and preserved the building. In 2024, local residents Craig and Michelle Machado purchased the schoolhouse with a vision to restore and revitalize the historic community landmark.
The Valley Ford Schoolhouse is a 2300 square foot, one-room schoolhouse built in the early 1900s. It exudes rural, rustic charm with expansive windows, timeworn hardwood floors, and original chalkboards that add to its character. Additionally, the venue features a small kitchen and food service bar, two restrooms, and a spacious back lot for parking, all with scenic views of the Estero Americano As it is currently undergoing renovation, the Schoolhouse will be available to rent in Summer 2025!
